How to Choose an Ecommerce Web Design Agency: 10 Questions to Ask
Most bad website projects were predictable at the enquiry stage. The scope was vague, ownership was never discussed, and nobody agreed what finished meant. These are the questions that surface all three before money changes hands.
The ten questions
Ask all of them by message so you have the answers in writing. A studio that answers clearly in writing will usually deliver clearly too.
- Can I see live stores you built, not just design mockups?
- How many products and how many rounds of revisions are included?
- Who owns the domain, the files and the customer data after launch?
- What is the total running cost in year two, itemised?
- Who writes the product descriptions and prepares the images?
- How do I add or edit products myself after handover?
- What is the timeline, and what delays it most often?
- What happens if I need a change three months after launch?
- How is the store set up for search, and will you submit the sitemap?
- What is the payment schedule and refund position if we stop mid project?
Signals worth trusting
Live links you can open and use on your phone. A fixed scope in writing before a deposit. A named person who answers messages. Honest answers about what is not included.
Signals worth walking away from
Guaranteed rankings. A price that changes every time you ask a question. No live examples. Refusal to put ownership of the domain in your name. Pressure to pay in full before anything is shown.
Judge the reply, not the pitch
The way a studio handles your first three messages is a fair preview of the project. Slow, vague replies before payment rarely become fast, precise replies afterwards.
You can put these questions to us directly on WhatsApp and get written answers, including scope and price, before any deposit. Our live client work is on the work page if you want to open the sites first.
