Ecommerce Website Design Prices in the UK: What Each Budget Buys
Ask five UK studios to quote for the same online store and the numbers will not look like they describe the same job. That spread is not random. It comes from a small number of variables, and once you can name them you can compare quotes properly.
This page is about price: what each budget band in GBP actually buys, what our own fixed packages cost, and the recurring cost most quotes leave out.
UK ecommerce website design prices at a glance
Bands below are what UK buyers are typically quoted. Our own prices sit deliberately below them because the studio is based in Pakistan and works direct with you, with no agency layer in between.
- From GBP 150: our packages for UK clients. Starter site from PKR 9,999, business site from PKR 14,499, full store from PKR 19,999, fixed in writing
- GBP 300 to 900: a themed store with a small range, content supplied by you
- GBP 1,000 to 3,000: brand specific design, larger catalogue, delivery and bundle logic
- GBP 3,000 to 10,000: original design, photography, copywriting, system integrations
- Above GBP 10,000: strategy, ongoing optimisation, custom integrations for higher order volume
- Every band above, plus a hosted platform: add a monthly plan and monthly apps, billed in USD
What actually drives the price
Three things move an ecommerce quote more than anything else: how many products and variations you sell, how much of the design is custom rather than themed, and whether content is ready or has to be produced.
- Catalogue size and product variations such as size, colour or bundle
- Custom design versus an adapted theme
- Product photography and description writing
- Delivery rules, especially banded or region based pricing
- Migration from an existing store, including redirects
- Multi currency and multi language
What our packages include at that price
A full store from PKR 19,999 ships with a product catalogue, cart and checkout, WhatsApp ordering, payment gateway setup, an admin dashboard, up to twenty products loaded, plus domain, hosting and a training session. The advanced SEO and GEO version starts at PKR 29,999.
Nothing in that list is rented monthly. After launch the only repeat cost is the yearly domain and hosting renewal, paid in your own name. Full tiers are on the packages page.
The lower end
At the lower end you get a tidy, mobile first store with a modest range, a clean design built on a proven structure rather than invented from scratch, payment setup, and an admin area to manage products and orders. Content is supplied by you.
This is the right level for a first launch. The mistake at this level is not the budget; it is expecting a bespoke visual identity and a hundred product pages inside it.
The middle
In the middle you are paying for design that is specific to your brand, more considered category and product page layouts, more products, and functionality tuned to how you sell: bundles, upsells, filtered collections, region aware delivery.
You are also usually paying for someone to think about conversion rather than only about looks, which is where the middle earns its money back.
The high end
At the high end you are buying strategy, original design work, photography, copywriting, integrations with stock or accounting systems, and ongoing optimisation. It is worth it when your order volume means a small percentage improvement pays for the work.
The cost people forget
Build price is only half the picture. Hosted platforms charge every month, then again for apps that add features most shops need. Over three years those recurring amounts frequently exceed the original build cost.
A custom store you own leaves you with a yearly domain and hosting renewal instead. That is the comparison to run before you choose, not the first month's invoice.
How to compare two quotes fairly
Ask each studio the same five questions: how many products and revisions are included, who writes the content, what the running cost looks like in year two, who owns the files and domain, and what happens if you want a change after launch.
A quote that cannot answer those in writing is not cheaper. It is unfinished.
See it before you spend anything
Tool Trust is a full store with searchable categories, WhatsApp ordering and instant delivery. SK Home Improvements is a UK service site with click to call, WhatsApp and a quote form. Both are live and openable on your phone, and each has a case study explaining the scope.
If you want plain figures rather than bands, the UK cost guide at /resources/ecommerce-website-cost-uk sets those out, and the UK agency page explains how we work with UK brands remotely.
Every quote we send is fixed in writing before work begins, with scope listed line by line. Send your product count and how you want to take orders on WhatsApp and you will get the exact figure for your store.
